Kelly has worked in the law for over thirty years. Commencing as a Clerk of Courts, she became a Deputy Registrar of the Magistrates’ Court. She then became the Homicide clerk whilst working at the State Coroner’s Office.

Kelly worked for six years at the Family Court as the Listings Manager and Case Flow Manager. She was responsible for the listing of all cases before the Court.

Fourteen years working at Victoria Legal Aid saw Kelly work as a Senior Legal & Policy Officer and then as a criminal lawyer in the Advocacy team in the Melbourne office. Kelly transferred to Frankston in 2017. She continued her work with criminal law whilst also being the Senior Family Violence lawyer.

At the Frankston office, Kelly appeared in family violence matters in the Magistrates’ Court for both Applicants and Respondents. Of those that proceeded to a contested hearing, Kelly had a 100% win ratio.

In 2017, Kelly was awarded a VLA Criminal Law People Recognition Award for her work in a County Court criminal appeal.

In 2018, Kelly started her own practice – Melbourne Nepean Lawyers.

Qualifications

Kelly has a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Social Science and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. She is also an accredited specialist in criminal law.

Natasha graduated from Monash University in 2009 before she was admitted to legal practice in 2010 and attained Accreditation as a Criminal Law Specialist in 2014, a testament to her expertise and commitment to the field. She commenced her career in private practice before transitioning into the community legal sector, where she has continued to build a reputation as a dedicated and highly skilled advocate. Natasha has held senior legal positions across both private firms and community organisations, consistently demonstrating leadership, integrity, and a deep commitment to justice.

A strong and passionate advocate, Natasha possesses an in-depth and practical understanding of criminal law, criminal procedure, and the rules of evidence relevant to both summary and indictable matters. Her advocacy skills are well demonstrated in her involvement in complex and high-profile cases. Notably, she instructed in the landmark High Court matter Momcilovic v The Queen [2011] HCA 3 and appeared in Re Fleming [2019] VSC 615, further underscoring her experience in complex constitutional and criminal matters.

Natasha has instructed in numerous homicide trials, large-scale drug prosecutions involving commercial quantities, and serious sexual offence matters. She is known for her thorough preparation, strategic insight, and fearless representation of her clients.

Additionally, Natasha has extensive experience appearing in Family Violence matters. She approaches these cases with sensitivity and tenacity, ensuring her clients’ voices are heard and their rights protected in what are often highly emotive and complex proceedings.
